DD 534 (Fletcher class)
We are seeking information on the USS McCord and her crews. Files and photos may be E-mailed to us and we will incorporate them into these pages.
Subject: USS McCord (DD 534) I am hoping to receive some information on my husband's grandfather, Frank K. Becker, who was stationed aboard the McCord in the '43-'45 time frame. I know he was an officer, but that is all. My husband is a submariner and as he finds some of his grandfather's things is finding they have quite a few things in common. If ANYBODY knows ANYTHING, please contact me. I'm trying to make this a part of my husband's scrapbook. Thank you,
Sent: Thursday, March 25, 1999 Brad, I am looking for information on the USS McCord. Mr. Wendell Peterson was stationed on the USS McCord during World War II. A Pharmacist's Mate performed an appendectomy on him and he is looking for the man who saved his life. Can you help? My cousin was MIA / KIA on the USS Longshaw. I have been able to find much information because of Destroyers Online. THANK YOU! This means a lot to me and my family. Thanks for your help!
From: wendell [mailto:wpeterson@email.msn.com] My name is Craig Turney. My Dad, Grover Clayton Turney, was stationed on USS McCord DD534 from the time she was commissioned, until the war was over. I have in my possession a transcript of the diary he kept while onboard, as well as some other information about the ship and her travels. I would like to get this to Brad so that it can be posted on the McCord page. I am willing to share all of the information that I have, because I am proud of my dad, and the world needs to know about our WWll heroes. Thanks for your help.
Craig Turney
