DD 574 (Fletcher class)
We are seeking information on the USS John Rodgers and her crews. Files and photos may be E-mailed to us and we will incorporate them into these pages.
A tribute to the Rodgers Family
Subject: USS John Rodgers (DD 574) My father, Burton Havis Steele, was enlisted onboard the USS John Rodgers (574) during WWII. He died over 30 years ago. However, I (his daughter) have a few photographs of the ship and the crew. Would you be interested in using them? I have been researching my roots which brought me to my father’s navy enlistment. I am so glad to have found your web site. Thanks you so much!
Subject: USS John Rodgers (DD-574) Dear Sir, My name is John Nowakowski, I'm the Commanding Officer of a group called The Last Patrol. We have been working on saving John Rodgers for roughly 12 years. Last week I recieved a letter from the Mexican Government telling us that the USS John Rodgers was ours if we still wanted her. I have informed them that we did still want to save the ship as a museum. We are a 501c3 non-profit group based in north west Ohio. We plan on bringing John Rodgers to the west end of Lake Erie as a museum. We are looking for all the help we can find at this point. Especially monitary sponsores and donations to get the ship home. I can be reached at:
