Builder: Bath Iron Works, Bath ME. Laid Down: December 21, 1942 Launched: May 8, 1943 Commissioned: July 16, 1943 Decommissioned: May 31, 1946 recommissioned: November 9, 1951 Decommissioned: May 27, 1958 Fate: To Argentina August 7 1961, renamed Rosales; scrapped in 1982

Photo of the Stembel's 5-inch gun on 4-Nov-1945 -- I believe they were in San Diego Harbor at that time. My Dad Harold R. Glaeser, S 1/C (FC) is fourth from left. If anyone knew my dad, I'll love to read some stories.
