USS Hyman
I would like to provide information for our upcoming reunion of the USS Hyman DD-732.
Dates: September 14 - 21, 2008
We have 298 crew members on our locator list. This will really help get the message out. We are expecting
100 plus attendees. Thanks for your help.

We are seeking information on the USS Hyman and her crews. Files may be emailed to us and we will incorporate them into these pages.
Subject: USS Hyman DD-732 Dear Mark, I am Sec/Treas. of the USS Hyman DD-732 Assn. Inc. We were organized in 1949 and have had many reunions. The reason I am writing is that we have a monument at New Castle, Indiana with the names of those who were killed aboard our ship on April 6, 1945 and also the five who were lost at sea during the Korean War. It is located in Henry County Memorial Park. Each year, on April 6, we travel to New Castle from all parts of the U.S. for a memorial service to honor the 12 men who were killed at the battle of Okinawa when a kamikaze hit our deck and those lost at sea. We were fortunate in finding three of the 12 family members who have joined us in honoring their relative.

We have tried to find the other families but have not been successful. We would like to post this on the USS Hyman site so that the relatives of those who were killed or lost will know their loved ones are so honored. We can send you the names and also a photo of the monument. Perhaps a grandchild looking for the ship his granddad served on will see this information and relate it to the rest of the family. If you need any further information, please let me know. Thank you for your time.
Bob Moldenhauer, Sec/Treas.
