USS Porter
DD-800
(Fletcher Class)

O Division

Once upon a time, in a roof garden high atop a mountain
in the land of Porterania, there dwelled a race of super-man
known as gunners mates.
Really, they were a peaceful lot, but by the nature of of their
occupation...death and destruction..they became a power to be
reckoned with.
Down below, lesser minions of this small community marveled
as these men from above manipulated secret wheels and
pushed secret buttons and waved their weapons in a threatening
manner,  but

Nothing was more fearful than those gunner's mate' "most supreme", a rather friendly person to be sure, named Wardrovich, who had the strange habit of sounding alarms many times a day
and at the strangest hours, (This alarm, by the way, was adopted from Sanskirt, was called by them Gee Cue.)
And in addition, he picked poor hours to bring aboard ammunition.
Naturally, lots of people didn't like these carryings on,
in fact, the gunner's mate bitched as much as anyone else, but that is neither here nor there.
Counting from left to right they were twenty eight in number, and their job was to keep the guns and magazines in top-top-shape, which they did most of the time, except
Every now and then, it rained, and then they turned fore and aft, elevation "0"
