Laid Down:     June 11, 1962
Launched:      January 8, 1963
Commissioned:  September 12, 1964
Fate:  	       While being towed to Texas to be scrapped, she took
               on water in rough seas faster than the crew could pump 
               out and had to be scuttled. Word from Barry Chambers of 
               International Shipbreaking Limited is that the final 
               resting place of the USS Benjamin Stoddert DDG-22 is at: 
               07 56.4N & 140 38.7W
