I was serving with the (British) Royal Fleet Auxiliary on board RFA OLMEDA at the time as the junior of her three Pursers. We had boiler problems and had to go in to San Diego for repairs just a short time after finishing a long self maintenance period in San Diego - most of us were not upset!!
Thank you for helping me to identify this photograph - I found your site by searching on Google for "USS 1074" and you were there on page 1 of the results.
